Jaba Samushia Welcomes Participants of International Scientific Conference

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia welcomed the participants of the 10th International Scientific Conference entitled “Prospects for the Development of Georgian-Ossetian Relations,” and discussed the significance of the conference in the context of a unified Caucasus. “It is incumbent upon us to surmount the extant challenges through the coexistence of Caucasian peoples. Through the scientific study of their history and culture, TSU has consistently contributed to the preservation and advancement of the identity of these peoples. The foundation for this work was established by Ivane Javakhishvili, and it continues to this day. Consequently, our university has become a hub of scientific discourse in the Caucasus,” stated Jaba Samushia.

The International Scientific Conference entitled “Prospects for the Development of Georgian-Ossetian Relations” is being held for the tenth time. It is organized by the Scientific-Research Center for Georgian-Ossetian Relations of TSU, and its goal is to promote the transition of Georgian-Ossetian relations to a new stage, modern interdisciplinary research. The two-day conference will focus on the prospects for the development of Georgian-Ossetian relations and will comprise six sections and a roundtable for students and young scholars. These are as follows: literary studies, linguistics, lexicology; folklore studies, ethnology, history, archeology; philosophy, ethics, religion; culture and art; interdisciplinary studies; media and mass communication.

The event will be attended by Deputy State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Lia Gigauri, President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences Roin Metreveli, Head of the South Ossetian Administration Tamaz Bestaev, Head of the State Language Department Giorgi Alibegashvili, and a number of distinguished scientists from Georgia, as well as from Dagestan, Chechnya, North Ossetia, Italy, Germany, and France. The conference will host a diverse group of participants, including scientists, young researchers, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations and international organizations, experts in conflict resolution issues and researchers in humanitarian and socio-political fields.
